Hello, Friends! I was thinking of you all this week while I was playing along with the NYTimes’ celebration of poetry. Did you see it?
In honor of National Poetry Month the NYTimes issued a poetry challenge. They asked us to commit ourselves to memorizing a poem with them. And - here’s why I thought of all of you - the poem they chose was “Recuerdo” by our very own Edna St. Vincent Millay. It’s a really lovely 5-day series of readings and helpful exercises. And it’s a fantastic poem that I am happy to say is now residing in my head. I’m going to post gift links to each day below so hopefully you can access them all.
I’m up to my back pockets in travel, end of year college stuff with the kids including my son’s graduation (so proud of him!), spring garden clean-up/dividing/planting, and PT for a difficult shoulder problem. So I’m not quite ready to launch another prompt series here at The Public Domain Poetry Project. But I promise to send you interesting bits and bobs that I see about poetry.
Also, I am on the lookout for our next poem. So if you have any ideas, please send them my way.
Happy spring, happy cherry blossoms, daffodils, tulips, or whatever is blossoming near you!
